I haven’t updated you all on my resolutions progress in a while. Nor have I made a new resolution lately! I have been trying to focus on the several that I have made so far, and really make them habitual so I can focus on new goals. March was a pretty busy month, so I’m hoping to get focused again on this blog. March was a good month though, got lots of love for my birthday (pictured above), so thanks family and friends for that! You are all the best, and you made me feel very special. Here’s how I’ve been doing with the resolutions…….
As far as playing with my dog each morning before work, kind of been slacking on that one. Tuesdays and Thursdays I usually do well, but Wednesdays and Fridays not so much. It’s hard to get up early enough to have time to play with him when I have to be at work around 6:30-6:45 a.m. I usually make up for it in the evenings when I get home from work. This is the most fun one, so you would think it would be the easiest to stick with. Funny how that works huh?
Fitness tip: Buy new workouts clothes to reboots your motivation to exercise. I have been pretty good about exercising. Sometimes I have only gotten yoga in once a week, but I have been training for the 5K three times a week pretty consistently. Each time I run I also strength train my lower extremities. I have noticed decreased hip and knee pain as a result, and not just with running but during daily activities also. This past week I only ran twice, but this was because I started adult gymnastics classes and have been super sore. Yes, I said adult gymnastics. It is amazing, I am loving it so far! Plus, don’t you think adult gymnastics sounds like a hilarious SNL skit? I think I should pitch it.
I have been doing REALLY well with washing my face twice a day and brushing my teeth at night. Though I did have to get a cavity filled last week, I think the teeth brushing will serve me well with my future dental visits. Also got a chip in my tooth filled from an unfortunate event with a beer bottle years ago, so my pearly whites are in good shape! My skin has had less breakouts also. I have been experimenting with some different skin care products, so when I decide on one I like the best I will tell you the details.
For Lent, I decided to be sure and say my prayers every night. This was an attempt to draw closer to God, and to see him working through my life once I began consistently calling upon him. I did begin to see some great things happening! For instance, one thing I ask for is that I will have the motivation to exercise more and eat better, and I did find myself doing both of those things. Some things I prayed for other people, and I saw changes being made in their lives. I won’t get specific on this, but I definitely saw the power of prayer at work!
For my next resolution, I am going to try to do one household chore a day. I tend to let things pile up all week long, and then I spend a decent amount of time on the weekends catching up on household chores. Having a messy and dirty house is a huge distraction for me; I feel like I can’t do anything until I have a clean space surrounding me. It may be putting dishes in the dishwasher at the end of the night, doing a load of laundry, or just picking up around the house. Any household task will qualify. I just hosted a Norwex party and got a TON of free stuff because of all the guests I had who made purchases, so I will be excited to use my new products! Whatever provides motivation, am I right?
Wish me luck on this new resolution. I don’t typically mind cleaning (don’t tell my husband!), but after a 10 hour day I’m usually ready to crash. Hopefully keeping up with these tasks will free up my weekends more, and create a more comfortable space for us to relax in our home. Until next time peeps!
